Q. How do you calculate settlements? A. Calculations are product line specific based on the specific work you will be contracted to do.
Q. How often will I be paid? A. U.S. Owner Operators receive weekly settlements and Canadian Owner Operators receive bi-weekly settlements with some exceptions depending on contracts.
Q. Is there an age requirement on my tractor? A. No. However, all tractors will be inspected by certified mechanics to make sure they are in excellent working order and pass all DOT regulations.
Q. Is PrePass available? A. We offer PrePass at a discounted rate.
Q. Does Trimac require uniforms? A. No, uniforms are not required, however, we ask our Owner Operators to remember that they interact in the public and with our customers. We require our Owner Operators to look neat, clean and professional.
Q. Can I get fuel at Trimac locations? A. Yes, independent contractors leased to Trimac can purchase their fuel at any of our locations with fuel islands, nationwide. Fuel discounts are also available at partnered fueling locations.
Q. Who pays the fuel tax? A. We track and report your fuel usage tax to you at no cost, but you are responsible for paying your fuel tax.
Q. Do you pay road and bridge tolls and scaling costs? A. Yes, with some exceptions by contract; however, we do not pay violations or citations.
Q. Will you cover my base plates and permits? A. We will pick up the cost of the base plate for the Owner Operators for the first year, charged back to Trimac. After the first year, the Owner Operators will be charged a pro-rate of the cost as per normal deductions stated in the contract. For Canadian Owner Operators, the company pays all plates and permits while under contract with Trimac.
Q. Will I have to incur any start-up costs? A. There will be some transition costs; however, if a blower, pump or compressor is required, these components and installation will be at Trimac’s expense. Trimac retains ownership of the equipment. *Some exceptions may apply.
Q. Does the company pay for the Qualcomm equipment? A. Yes, Qualcomm equipment is paid for by the company for Canadian Owner Operators and will be paid for U.S. Owner Operators on a 2-year reimbursement program.
Q. Can I get discounts on business expenses? A. Through our Independent Contractor Program, Owner Operators can take advantage of bulk discounts and reduced rates on things like fuel, maintenance, tires, new and used tractors, group insurance and business support services.
